EXPLAIN UNITS: Cbse board class 10 science syllabus

Unit 1: Chemical Substances – Nature and Behaviour
1. Chemical Reactions: Types of chemical reactions, balanced chemical equations, effects of concentration, temperature, and catalysts on the reaction rate.
2. Acids, Bases, and Salts: Chemical properties, pH scale, indicators, chemical reactions of acids and bases, neutralization reactions, and their importance.
3. Metals and Non-Metals: Properties of metals and non-metals, reactivity series, extraction of metals, corrosion, and its prevention.

Unit 2: World of Living
1. Life Processes: Nutrition, respiration, transportation, and excretion in plants and animals.
2. Control and Coordination: Nervous system, endocrine system, reflex actions, hormones, and their functions.
3. Reproduction: Modes of reproduction, asexual and sexual reproduction, reproductive health.

Unit 3: Natural Phenomena
1. Reflection and Refraction: Laws of reflection, spherical mirrors, lenses, mirror and lens formula, refraction of light, prism, dispersion of light.
2. Human Eye and Colourful World: Structure and functioning of the human eye, defects of vision, corrective measures, phenomena due to sunlight.

Unit 4: Effects of Current
1. Electricity: Electric current, electric circuit, Ohm’s law, resistance, factors affecting resistance, electric power, heating effects of electric current, electric energy and its conservation.
2. Magnetic Effects of Electric Current: Magnetic field, magnetic field lines, magnetic field due to a current-carrying conductor, electromagnetic induction, domestic electric circuits.

Unit 5: Natural Resources
1. Sources of Energy: Conventional and non-conventional sources of energy, fossil fuels, nuclear energy, solar energy, biogas, wind, and tidal energy.
2. Our Environment: Ecosystem, food chain and food web, ozone layer, depletion, and its consequences, management of natural resources.
